The Lucentia Realm
Welcome to a realm where light, beauty, and healing reign. A place where figurative art meets nature, immersed in atmosphere. It is a place that can be envisioned in our own world, though the figures represent elements, wisdom, strength, healing, and sovereignty. Life is celebrated, and death is the transformation of completeness.
Composition for many and the niche minded.
Lucentia has something unique. Whether you like figures, landscapes, flowers or critters, all are drawn and painted to harmonize as a unit. So to use these elements, I have to respect them as individual elements of the piece as well as a unit. Think chamber music, a few instruments harmonizing, the same with elements of a composition. You can take learnings for creating any, a couple or all compositional elements to create just a landscape, or just a dragonfly, as well as using them all.
The Process
Inspiration begets conception
Something happens, a hawk flies overhead, a song is heard, seeing the magnificence of the roaring surf, a flower blooms, or perhaps a face shows soul. Inspiration hits and an image is conceptualized
Birth comes in the form of sketch
Sketches are made to work out the basic pose, elements of the piece, a flower, an s-curve to create contrapposto.
Development through Charcoal Study
Fast, immediate and simple. A charcoal study at full scale might be done to work out the composition. This may often be skipped for smaller pieces.
Maturity and Refinement via Color
The final surface is chosen, the image is redrawn and life starts to gain color. As the archival color is applied, the image matures to its fully developed image and life, immersed in its realm.
